Mango originates from India and is also a beloved fruit in Pakistan. While Hungarians bake pies with cherries or apples, people there do the same with mango. They eagerly await mango season and enjoy the fruit similarly to how we eat peaches. Instead of peeling or cutting it, they gently massage the mango to soften the flesh, then bite a hole into it and suck out the delicious juice, before eating the pulp.
MANGO — beautiful inside and out
Unripe mangoes are green, while ripe ones shift to a red-orange hue. That’s when the fruit is ready to eat. In Hungary, mangoes are rare and imported, making them quite expensive to use for baking. But enjoying one as a refreshing summer snack or a vitamin bomb in winter is well worth it. And if you're craving just the taste, the syrup is the perfect alternative!
Mango holds a special place among cocktail syrups. It’s already sweet on its own — and its distinct flavor adds to its appeal. You can prepare both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with it. Mix with rum, Bacardi, or tequila along with some citrus notes — the result speaks for itself.
FOR CHILDREN, mango syrup makes lemonade a real treat. A unique twist to break away from everyday flavors, it’s a colorful addition to any lemonade selection. Combined with citrus fruits and a little strawberry purée, it creates a fantastic summer cooler — just add ice. In winter, mix it with rice milk, mint, and lime juice for a cozy seasonal drink.
