Originating from India, mango is also beloved in Pakistan. While Hungarians make pies with cherries or apples, there they use mango. They look forward to mango season with excitement, eating it like we do peaches. Instead of peeling or slicing it, they soften the flesh by hand, bite a small hole, drink the delicious juice, and then enjoy the fruit itself.
MANGO – a fruit beautiful inside and out
Unripe mangoes are green, but as they ripen, their skin turns red-orange. In this stage, they are ready to eat. Since mango is rare in Hungary and only available as an import, it’s often too expensive to bake with, but one piece makes a perfect refreshing summer snack or a winter vitamin boost. And if you crave only its taste, mango syrup is the best solution!
Mango holds a special place among cocktail syrups. Sweet and flavorful on its own, it becomes even more exciting when blended with citrus notes. It pairs beautifully with rum, Bacardi, or tequila, creating tropical drinks that speak for themselves.
FOR CHILDREN: Mango lemonade is a true treat, adding a colorful twist to the usual flavors. Combined with citrus fruits or a touch of strawberry puree, it makes a fantastic summer cooler with ice. In winter, it can be mixed with rice milk, mint, and lime juice for a delightful tea-time twist.
