Mixology: The Art of Drink-Making

Form or function? A conversation with Rémy Savage about the connection between mixology and glassware.

Mixology, the art of crafting drinks, has long existed and continues to evolve. Rooted in creativity and the desire to make, it remains at the heart of the movement, but contemporary mixologists keep pushing the boundaries of cocktail creation and service. Innovative ideas and shifts in philosophy have radically changed the way cocktails are conceived.

Glassware, ingredients, temperature, music, aesthetics, and setting, all are critical elements that mixologists consider when crafting an experience.

...It’s all in the details. I believe that beautifully designed glassware enhances the experience in a new way, much like in the culinary world, where presentation has become essential.”
Rémy Savage

Today, mixologists recognize more than ever the need for glassware designed with thoughtful form, function, and feel to meet the demands of the industry. Rémy Savage - award-winning bartender, former head of Little Red Door in Paris, later at Artesian in London, and now leading Le Syndicat - worked closely with NUDE’s design team to develop a collection that reflects this shift.

The result is the NUDE Savage Collection, where form and function unite under the idea that the drink and the glass are two inseparable elements of the complete experience.

Rémy Savage:

“For me, the beauty of mixed drinks isn’t just about the liquid itself, but the overall experience. The flavors serve as a platform for bigger ideas — whether artistic or philosophical. I believe if we build on those details, then both the recipe and the chosen glass can create something truly unique and special. That’s what we’re aiming for.”

“Every bartender dreams of having their own glassware collection. Personally, I’ve spent much of my adult life collecting glass objects: understanding the craftsmanship and processes behind the glassware we use every day has been an incredible journey.”
